An official selection in the Cannes Film Festival, 2015, this feature documentary is the closest study yet of the superstar actor, Steve McQueen, through the prism of the making of his life’s dream – the ultimate motor racing movie, Le Mans. McQueen was King of the World, yet over the course of his production lost his marriage, his control of the film, his company and his closest friendships. The director quit, a driver lost his leg, another was badly burned. McQueen almost killed a co-star, crashing a car and putting them both through a windscreen, and he found himself on the “Death list” of Charles Manson. But still he kept going in his attempt to capture pure racing on film. It is a story of obsession, betrayal and ultimate vindication.
