“Establishing women’s football team. Please get in contact. March 3, 1971.” An anonymous note attached to a factory notice board became a watershed moment in German football history. Turbine’s women’s team was founded on a fundamental belief that the supposed “weaker sex” can play football just as well as their male counterparts. Over 50 years later and it’s fair to say those factory floor women were correct.
